Slow Food USA Benefit Cocktail

Flor de Calabaza features the Long Island Cheese Pumpkin, which once was the dominant pumpkin for pies but faced extinction in the 20th century. Today, this pumpkin is part of the Ark of Taste, a global program led by Slow Food to advance biodiversity and celebrate heirloom and endangered food from around the world.

By identifying and championing these foods, we keep them in production and on our plates. The Long Island Cheese Pumpkin is featured twice in this drink -- first in one of the base spirits -- II. Solé Mio -- a New York style Shōchū made from house made koji, organic NY grains and of course, several thousand lbs of Long Island Cheese Pumpkins grown on its namesake island by Treiber Farms.  The pumpkins make a second appearance in their fresh, unfermented form, in the form of a syrup, made by the cocktails creator, Danny Childs.  All the proceeds from these sales go to benefit Slow Food USA.  We hope you'll join us in celebrating their work with this delicious drink.
